
Open a file and before you type anything
- Go to the Quick Access Menu
- Click on Save and other options as needed
Note: The Save button will save your document as a Word 2007 document with a docx
extension . You must use the Office options button to save in other formats including Office 2003, pdf and xps (Microsoft's pdf format) - Save the file by clicking on the floppy disk icon in the Quick Access menu
- Save to a jump drive or floppy disk if possible
- Give it a file name that is meaningful
Once saved
- Go to back to the Office Options menu and click on Word Options

- Save
- Change the AutoRecover option to 1 minute.

- Begin editing your document
Things to remember:
All files on the library drives are wiped out daily (including Quick Access options) so do not save your work on our computers! Floppy disks can be purchased at the circulation desks in the Bedford or Lowell libraries and jump drives are available at the MCC bookstores.Quick Access options on library computers will not retained after the machine is rebooted.
