Having problems getting a copy of a document or picture?

Are you having a problem getting a print of a picture, document or form?

1) Printing library pathfinders
  • Select the entire pathfinder using your mouse
  • Click on file
  • Click on print
  • Make sure selection is checked
  • Print

2)

If you are using an application which has its own internal print icon
you should be using that to print your documents. Adobe PDF documents are found frequently on the web, used in our Electronic Resources (databases) and should always be printed in this way.

3)

If there is no print button, you don't have a screen capturing program on your PC or you are not connected to a printer at the moment you will need to capture an image of the printed text on the screen.

  • Hit the Prnt Scrn Key
  • Open Microsoft word or other word processing package
  • hit Ctrl-V or Edit and Paste to add the captured screen
  • Either print to your document or save the document and email it to yourself.

4)

You might encounter a problem when printing from a web site because the site is created using a HTML element known as frames. If you are on a web site that has a menu on one side and text or different information in the middle there is a good chance the web developer is using frames on their website. If you need to print out of only part of the screen

  • Click into the part of the page you are interested in
  • Select file from the menu bar in internet explorer
  • Print preview

The default option is to print the information as laid out on the screen. By clicking into the pull down box you can change this to only the selected frame.

5)Printing only part of a web page

Websites unlike a word processing document do not recognize pages in the same way. If you are trying to print information from a web site you should select the preview option before printing.

  • File
  • Print Preview

Here you will be able to determine how many pages your print out will be.
